Year 11 Revision

Dear Parent/ Carer,

I am writing to you to inform you of the revision schedules we are providing for your son to enable him to maximise his potential in the lead up to his GCSE examinations. As discussed at the year 11 information evening, we feel it is crucial to keep your son in academy lessons right up to the exams as we feel he will benefit more from his teachers’ expertise than conducting revision independently at home. However, we will be expecting him to revise at home to supplement his preparation!

Your son has been issued with his schedule today, and there is also a copy posted on the academy website click here for your own reference. We will maintain the expectations of your son attending registration, and wearing full academy uniform. He will not be released early from the academy when he has a morning exam, as will return to schedules revision or timetabled lessons. If he is returning to a lesson where the exam in that subject has already been taken, he will be expected to revise for an alternative subject or to complete BTEC portfolio work as appropriate. Some subject areas will offer a breakfast revision session for the class, and subject teachers will inform your son of this as appropriate.

We understand that this is a challenging and stressful time for your son and staff are working exceedingly hard to ensure that he is fully prepared for the demands of the exam season. We will be delivering, as usual, a series of revision sessions during the half term and we will forward this schedule within the next week.

I would like to remind you that the Year 11 Raising Achievement handbook on the website has lists of relevant websites to support your son’s revision at home, so there should be no excuse for him not knowing what to do! If you have any further questions, please contact your son’s head of faculty or subject teacher and they will be willing to offer guidance and advice,
