Medal Positioning for our HABE Athletes!

On the hottest day of the year so far, Norman Park made the perfect setting for the 43rd annual Bromley Minors competition for year 7 and 8 students. This year, the boys and girls competitions were held on the same day which only added to the atmosphere. The boys were keen to match or better their highest result from last year (placing 3rd) and the girls were also optimistic that their training and hard work could pay off. A Few special mentions must go out to:

Michael Sunday – Winning the year 7 boys 80m hurdles final.

Leo Ellis – Winning the year 8 boys shot put

Kadi Byrne – Placing second in the year 8 girls 100m final – After winning her heat.

Joe Barnes-Austin – Wining the year 78 boys 300m final and gaining a new personal best in the high jump.

Shae Seaforth – Winning the year 7 girls 100m final.

Shaun Bartley – Winning the year 7 boys 200m final with a 10m lead!

Renee Bel-Momudu – Winning the year 7 girls shot-put whilst achieving a personal best result.

Kamani Pryce – Winning the year 8 boys 100m final.

Jess De Vries – Winning the year 7 girls high jump.

Cameron Dobell – Placing 2nd in the year 8 boys 200m final.

Tom Penlington – Placing second in the year 8 boys 800m final.

After a fantastic day in the sun, we eagerly awaited the results which seemed to take a lifetime! Then, we heard the PA system announce that the results were in. The girls managed to place overall in third place, their highest result in our history! Then, it was announced that the boys managed and overall finish of second place! An improvement from last year, a best ever finish for them. I would like to say a massive well done to all the students who competed, you did yourselves and the Academy proud!
