Harris Academies
All Academies in our Federation aim to transform the lives of the students they serve by bringing about rapid improvement in examination results, personal development and aspiration.

Whether a student directs a play, sings in one of our choirs or captains a sports team, it is important to us that everyone finds a hobby or activity they enjoy and are good at.

We will provide a range of extra curricular activities that parallels those of the best private schools in the country.  Wherever there is demand for a club or activity, we will always try to find a way to make it happen.

To help give you an indication of the breadth of what will be on offer, some of the most popular and successful activities at other Harris Academies are:

  • The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme
  • Outward Bound
  • Glee Club
  • Anime Club
  • Debate Mate
  • Robotics
  • Sailing
  • Fully funded theatre and museum visits
  • Fully funded trips abroad for cultural experiences and foreign language exchanges

We will also participate in the Harris Federation Student Commission. This is an initiative in which small groups of Harris students have been able to visit some of the best schools in the world, and also interview high profile educationalists here in the UK, in order to identify what it is that makes a school truly outstanding.

The Student Commissioners report their findings back to the Federation on a regular basis, which takes these ideas on board in running and developing the Harris Academies.  If you are interested in the work of the Commission, some of its publications are available for download here.
