New Build Timeline
The new Harris Primary Academy is prepared ready for our new students.
Temporary classrooms are almost completed, ready for the first phase of the development. The DT, Art, Music and Business departments will be temporarily based here.
The Academy grounds are now a hive of activity in preparation for the first phase of the move.
October Half Term Break 2015
The first phase of the Academy's move towards our new build is taking place with Business, ICT, Art, Music and Design moving to our temporary accommodation.
Start of the New Half Term November 2015
The students have already settled very well into the new classrooms.
The beginning of the end of our original buildings! Demolition of the old Sports Hall has started.
Demolition of the old blocks continue and the path is cleared to accommodate the new entry road.
As the sun sets, we say goodbye to the old DT and Art block which has now finally been demolished.
The new build is progressing well, with three buildings now demolished. Since Christmas we have had over a thousand tipper lorries on site, removing soil and masonry. This, as you can imagine has been quite a logistical exercise, which has gone smoothly, with little impact on the local environment. All material removed from the site goes for recycling, giving the project 0% to land fill, a great achievement.
The concrete piles (which the building will sit on) for the primary academy are nearly complete, so the steel framing will start on time keeping the completion and handover in December 2016 for the Primary academy on target.
Exciting progress is being made with the arrival of the cranes.
May Half Term 2016
During half term, power sources will be redirected and with each day we can see more of the foundations being put into place.
The concrete foundations are being laid.
The foundations how now been put in place with exciting progress now accelerating week by week.

With the crane absent from the skyline and the building still on schedule to open in the summer, staff are very excited at the prospect of taking a first look inside, once the safety hats and boots have arrived!

Whilst it seems that not much has progressed on the outside of our new Academy, we can confirm that inside it has been a hive of activity in preparation for our scheduled opening this summer - only 7 months away!
In the meantime the view from the second floor of our current building includes the new Primary Academy with the Construction Site offices serving as reminder of the work being carried out on our Academy.
