Indoor Athletics Success!

On Thursday 11th January our young athletes took the short trip to Langley School for the annual Bromley indoor athletics competition.

With the boys and girls competition being held together for the first time, the atmosphere inside the sports centre was better than ever!

We saw some very competitive obstacle course relay races before the girls commenced their running events and the boys took on the field events. Highlights from those events saw Shaun Bartley excel in the year 8 shot put, throwing over 10m! Meanwhile, Renae Goode-Garrat proved why she is the fastest girl in year 7, only narrowly missing out on first place in the 2 lap individual with a photo finish.

After some thrilling athletics, we then saw the boys take on the track events and the girls tackle the field disciplines. Highlights from those events saw Ben Duncan and Eddie Fitzgerald win a fantastically tactical 8 lap relay  and Ethan Mitchell win the 4 lap individual putting in a very resilient performance. The girls started their field event campaign with determination and drive as Violet Hoods put her quick feet into action in the speed bounce, placing 2nd overall. Affrey King and Libby Murphy battled it out in the long and triple jump, both displaying outstanding athleticism to finish among the top of the group.

Great team spirit was shown throughout the evening which encouraged all competitors to perform fantastically. Well done to all the students involved and we look forward to seeing what this athletic season has to bring.
