Bedrock Brilliance
As part of the Academy’s commitment to broadening our students’ vocabulary we have joined forces with Bedrock Learning to provide online vocabulary and grammar lessons for years 7-9. Below is a review of the programme from Alex Tuppin who has really excelled this year using Bedrock.
‘’Since I started using bedrock in October I have acquired an abundance of new and vivid vocabulary! The 37 common roots topic was a disappointing start because I already had an advanced knowledge of those but they lured me in with the next topic on the Sahara Desert which taught me about different habitats and words like arid instead of ‘hot’. This has made a tangible difference to the quality of my work because when you’re doing creative writing tasks you don’t want a meagre vocabulary!! It also helps with my imagination because at the end of a block topic you have to use each word from that lesson in a sentence to email your teacher. The improvement in my creative writing has been conspicuous. It is my ambition to finish this topic and move on to the next lesson and discover the circumstances behind the apocalypse. ‘’
