Outstanding GCSE Results for HABE

Students at Harris Academy Beckenham are celebrating outstanding GCSE results.

Four in five students (80%) achieved A*-C grades in both English and maths – a significant increase on last year’s 66%.

Star students at the academy include:

  • Tarek Khatib: 3A*s, 2As, 4Bs, 1C
  • Luke Levitt: 3A*s, 6As, 2Bs
  • Ravin Goran: 2A*s, 6As, 3Bs
  • Maihan Ahmed: 2A*s, 4As, 5Bs

Rebecca Hickey, Executive Principal of the Academy, said:

“I am absolutely delighted with this year’s results. Since we opened in 2011, it has been our aim to continuously improve and grow and we have seen wonderful progress.

“Our students’ success is well deserved – their teachers will attest to the fact that they have demonstrated superb resilience and resourcefulness in the run-up to these exams and I am glad to say that it shows in their results.”

This year, the government has introduced a new performance measure called Progress 8 which indicates the progress made by students in secondary school across eight key subjects. Based on 2015 national averages, Harris Academy Beckenham’s score is likely to be 0.8. This is significantly higher than the national average which is always set at 0, equating to almost an entire grade higher in each subject for each student than national expectations.
