Key dates
Common Application Form: deadline 31st October 2021. This must be completed and returned to your LEA (Local Education Authority). We'll then be notified of your application and invite prospective Year 6 students for our banding test day.
Determined Banding Test Supplementary Information Form: 31st October 2021
Please complete this form ONLY if you would like your child to be considered for any concessions during the Year 6 banding test. Concessions relate to issues that you feel would need to be taken into consideration when he/she takes the Year 6 banding test. (e.g. epilepsy, hearing problems, sight conditions, problems with reading or writing, including dyslexia, mobility etc)?
Please return your completed Supplementary Information Form directly to Harris Academy Beckenham. The SEN Coordinator will then make the decision as to the appropriate concession required (e.g. wheelchair access, scribes, larger print etc). NB: completion of a Supplementary Information Form does not constitute an application to the Academy and is only used for the purpose of the Year 6 banding test. You must complete the Local Education Authority Common Application Form as well.
Year 6 Banding Test Date: Friday 10th December 2021.
Please see below further communication about our banding test:
We use Banding tests to ensure we're admitting pupils with a wide range of academic abilities.
National Offer Day Date: Tuesday 1st March 2022.

Admissions Consultation 2022-2023 Decision Notice:
Between 23rd November and 18th January, the Governing Body of Harris Academy Beckenham consulted on the changes to the admission arrangements for intake in September 2022.
The Harris Federation developed a template policy for use by all Harris academies to ensure consistency, clarity and compliance with the Admission’s Code. This may look different to the previous policies but is simply setting out the existing criteria in a clearer way. The only key change to the arrangements was the naming of a feeder school in the oversubscription criteria.
The new oversubscription criteria is:
- Looked after and previously looked after children
- Children with a sibling at the Academy in years 7 to 11
- Children of staff members employed at Harris Academy Beckenham
- Children attending Harris Primary Academy Beckenham
- All other children
The consultation period ran for 8 calendar weeks, instead of the statutory 6 calendar week period prescribed by the Schools Admission Code 2014 (Admission Code), to allow for the Christmas and New Year Holiday period.
The Governors have now carefully considered all of the responses received and, taking these into account, and in compliance with the Statutory requirements of the Admissions Code and other relevant legislation/guidance, has finalised the admission arrangements for September 2022 intake and formally determined then on 4th February 2021.
The consultation was not a referendum, and therefore the statistical data, whilst important (i.e. the numbers of respondents who agreed, disagreed, were neutral or did not view a proposal as applicable) did not, on its own, inform the decision made. All respondents gave written statements or comments, which informed the Governors discussions and the final decisions made. The full responses, consideration, decisions and rationale can be found in the minutes published below.
