Social Distancing at HABE

Social Distancing at HABE - What to Expect

We’re really looking forward to seeing groups of our Year 10s and 12s back when our Academy reopens on Monday 15th June.

This page explains some of the changes we’ve made to the classrooms, canteens and corridors – all designed to keep you, your families and our staff safe. Don’t worry, you’ll soon get used to the changes, but here’s what to expect.

SD Photo14

The whole Academy is going to feel much quieter, because there will never be more than a quarter of our Year 10 and 12 students in the building at the same time.

Students will look different too, because we're asking you to bags and ties at home please. Ideally clothes will be washed each week.

When you arrive...

We've fitted special sinks, so the first thing you'll do when you arrive in the Academy is to wash your hands. Please travel directly to the Academy and do not congregate with friends either before or after.

In the corridors...

Everyone needs to keep two metres apart and we've put lots of arrows and lines in the corridors, including a one-way system around the school, to help keep everyone safe.

In your classroom...

All your lessons will take place in one classroom. You’ll be taught in small groups and you’ll stay with that group all day.

There are just 10 desks in each class, so everyone can stay two metres apart. All your lessons will take place in one classroom, with the teachers coming to you. In fact, only your group of 10 will use your classroom. Once you’ve left it, nobody else will use your classroom for a week.

We’ll give you your own bag of pens and stationery (below) which is just for you to use. After your lessons, just leave everything in the classroom and it will be waiting for you next time. So there's no need to bring your own stationery to school.

In the canteen...

We will also practise social distancing. Students should also top up their lunch accounts online.

So remember…

  • No ties, bags or books please
  • Please remember to top up your lunch accounts online
  • Always stay with your group of students
  • Stay two metres apart and wash your hands when asked

So that's it! We hope that gives you a bit of an insight into how we are going to keep our whole community safe. We're really looking forward to seeing you.

And a big thanks to our fantastic students, who were at the Academy this week and volunteered to be our models!
