HABE's Careers Fair is taking place on Friday 8th July to introduce our students to employers in order to inspire them in making the best decisions for their careers. We need guest speakers from industries such as retail, baking, hospitality, entertainment and Medicine. https://t.co/YMSiz6nRWB

They managed to complete 5 miles in an 1hr 45 in the heat and walked up the steepest of hills, but that did not stop the students. We have now raised £730 for Save the Children, and the Diversity Group members are over the moon with how their teamwork and hard work has paid off. https://t.co/D4xDYhoChD

Why We Encourage Home Learning

Home Learning supports students in making progress with their learning; at Harris Academy Beckenham we believe that independent learning has value in teaching our students vital life skills such as independence, personal organisation, reliability and self-discipline. It teaches them to see the value of hard work and that hard work leads to success.

How We Promote Home Learning at Harris Academy Beckenham:

At HABE we promote in five ways:

  1. All Home Learning is supported with a student and parent guide to promote success
  2. All home learning is relevant and clearly linked to the Big Picture of what knowledge and skills need to be secured
  3. Home Learning is set in a variety of formats to engage and support deliberate practise e.g. Hegarty Maths, Bedrock English, Tassomai Science to name a few.
  4. All Home Learning is modelled around the theory of deliberate practise.
  5. All Home Learning is aimed to interleave the learning of all students by testing the student’s prior knowledge and understanding.
