Reporting on the Rugby Sevens Tournment - Our Boys were 10's!

Our first game was against Canterbury Academy and having not played them this season we were not sure what to expect. We won 35-0 with some fantastic performances from Omar Prince, Gabriel Murdoch, Kervell Bernard-Moore, Joe Fan and Alfie Burn. We went into our second game against Homewood School with more confidence. We showed some fantastic attacking phases of play and defended strongly, again preventing them from scoring any tries making the final score 27-0. Our final game of the group stages was against Ravensbourne School, which we knew would be our most challenging game of the day so far. We were 14-12 down at halftime and with some hard work and determination from everyone we managed to lead 17-14 with only 1 minute left in the match. Unfortunately we let them score with 30 seconds left on the clock and although we knew we were through to the knockout stages we were disappointed in how close we came to beating them.

After an hours wait we were ready to kick off our semi final clash against The Priory School, who we had lost against earlier in the season. There were some outstanding performances from Matis Godet, Jake Bale and Will Thomas. Again for the third time we managed to prevent them from scoring any tries making the final result 37-0. We looked forward to our rematch against Ravensbourne School who were also through to the final. The boys were excited about proving themselves against a team we had lost against earlier in the day. We played our best Rugby yet, and the score at full time was 17 all therefore taking us into extra time a ‘golden try’ situation.  Unfortunately Ravensbourne scored with less than 30 seconds on the clock. We finished Runners up in the emerging schools section, which is a fantastic achievement after only two terms of Rugby having been played. A mention must go to Tony Ngounou, Devonte Falconer and Lewis Findley for impressive performances throughout the tournament.
