HABE Cricket Team Compete in the First Round of the Kent Cup

Having won the toss Wolfie Russell our captain, decided to bat first, hoping to set Tonbridge Grammar a tough target to chase. Ali Chowdrey and Sai Arunkumar opened the batting and had a fairly impressive spell. Ali batted a total of 21 runs before being caught out and Sai batted a total of 10 runs, before being bowled out, 4 overs in.  We managed to play out the 20 overs, which was extremely impressive for our first ever Cricket match.  There were also some impressive batting performances from Will Thomas and Finley Kepler batting a total of 25 runs between them. We finished our innings with 84 runs, a tough target for Tonbridge Gammar to chase.

We fielded well against a very good batting side. Some outstanding performances all round in particular Jake Bale who had a successful innings as wicket keeper and Matis Godet who fielded well at slip. There were also some top bowling from many students, including Donovan Logan, Osama Issa, Joe Fan and Ali Chowdrey who managed to get 1 wicket in the third over. Although we managed to force them to play 12 overs they unfortunately beat us by 7 wickets. We did extremely well for our first game as a team and can take a lot of experience from it, helping us to develop over the rest of season.

We have many fixtures coming up this season including Langley Park, Coopers School and The Priory. This week we are playing Hurtsmere School in the first round of the Kent Plate. Our U15’s are also playing in the first round of the Kent Plate against Charles Darwin School. To keep updated on our sports fixtures please visit our sports website: www.harrisbeckenhamsport.org.uk
