Outstanding Victory for HABE U15’s Cricket Team Against Langley Boys

After a slow start to the season the U15’s Cricket team were still seeking to achieve their first win, and what a better place to do it; than away at Langley Park School. The captain Leo Webster won the toss and opted to field first. There were some outstanding fielding performances all round from HABE, including Tawa Kazembe who caught out Langley’s opening batsman 8 overs into the game. There were also some great bowling performances from Leo Webster, Taku Kazembe, and Mobashwer Hossain. Rhys Taylor-Nye also had a fantastic performance as wicket keeper in his first match in that position.

Langley played out the 20 overs with 136 runs scored; therefore a tough batting challenge lay ahead for the HABE boys. Leo Webster was exceptional and showed his experience by scoring a personal best of 69 runs, before being bowled out 11 overs in. With 8 Overs left, HABE had to score 68 runs to win. There were some more great batting performances from Daniel Panyko and Ed Burns, both making huge progress since the beginning of the season and gaining those all important runs. With 4 overs to go HABE needed 8 runs to win. The boys showed great resilience throughout the match and after 2 and a half hours of fantastic Cricket, won by 4 wickets.

The boys are looking forward to a rematch and a possible staff match at the end of the Academy year.
