Congratulations Millie - Diving for Success in Stunning Style!

International Diving Competition in Croatia

On the 7th July I went Rijeka in Croatia with the Crystal Palace Diving Team for my first International competition, the 4th Open Croatian Summer Junior Championships. There were12 European Nations represented by 415 entries from 24 Teams. Crystal Palace had 24 divers from different age groups.

I was very excited to be asked to compete in this competition but at the same time nervous as I had to learn several new twist dives to be able to compete internationally.

When we arrived in Croatia we went to the pool which was outdoors and right by the sea, it was amazing.  After two days of training I had my first competition which was the 3 metre synchronised diving event. We got some really good scores and came 7th place overall which we were really pleased with, a German team won and our Crystal Palace team mates won silver.

The next day I had my individual 3 metre competition, it went really well to start but unfortunately I was given lower scores for my new twist dive ranking me down about 10 places. I finished in 21st place, but it was great experience for me competing at this level.

On the last day I had my one metre competition.  Although the standard was very high I finished 15th and was pleased with my performance.

Overall, the Crystal Palace team was top of the medal ranking with 8 Golds, 10 silvers and 6 Bronzes.  Half of the team, including myself,  are new to this level and gained valuable experience ready for next competition season.

My next competition is in Sweden in October and I am now working hard to improve my dives.
