HABE Students Brave the Dragon's Den

On Wednesday 13th July, four of our Year 10 Business Students headed to Harris Academy in Greenwich to compete in the first Harris Federation Dragon’s Den competition.  Following the completion of a business plan, the students had three minutes to wow the judges with their business idea, followed by an intense five minutes of questioning from the dragons.  Keerthan Pangayachchelvan recalls his account of the day:

Our company the Beckenham 4*s consisting of Keerthan Pangayachchelvan, Fabio Bajrami, Wesley Asaam and Adam Merdas represented Harris Beckenham at the Federation Dragons Den competition in front of a panel of experts. We were quite nervous initially, but as our presentation got under way we became composed and confident. The three judges had smiles on their faces throughout pitch, they were astonished by the quality of our presentation. We were commended for our clear, logical, and well-reasoned pitch. Whilst we were being asked questions, one of the judges exclaimed, “You guys are great at being quick on your feet.” This resourcefulness was helped by Miss Parfitt’s help in our preparation for the day.

Throughout the competition our team have demonstrated great reciprocity and we impressed all the Dragons. Our business idea ‘Harris Fest’ is a family festival aimed at bringing all the Harris Academies together. The idea was awarded full investment from the judges. We have developed some very valuable life skills along the way that will help prepare us for our future careers in business.
